The other day, I bummed a drop spindle from my friend. I spent most of the day and night spinning, until my thumb and forefinger were raw. It was a great deal of fun. I’m using the method seen in the video Spindle 7 by Susan Forste.
I am not sure if this will become a new hobby or just be a try-it-once sort of thing. I have to admit that I can envision doing this every so often and then crocheting up something super special with the resulting yarn.

Nice work! I love drop spindles too. When I first started spinning, I couldn’t use them at all, so I went to a wheel and was doing great. For some reason, it didn’t click until I understood why it worked on the wheel. I have a couple spindles now and yeah, they’re for special small batches. =D
Beautiful! I love the image that “little yarn cakes” brings to mind: sweet, light, fluffy, tasty morsels. :)
You always seem to be learning something new. I think spinning your own yarn and making something special with it would be amazing.

Your yarn is beautiful! Please give me drop spindle lessons!!! :)
Oh I had to pin that video so I can revisit it. I love handspun yarn. I’ve done it once but obviously not enough to develop proficiency.
